Published in Paper Play

A few months ago I had the pleasure of collaborating with Christine Kim on some portraits for her submission to Paper Play, an art book featuring artists who work with paper as a medium.  Her work, Paper Orbs, was featured as an installation at last year's Nuit Blanche. It's always great to work with Christine who's such a talented artist! Here are a few of my favourites from the photo shoot.

Baby Katelyn | Baby, Kids and Family

Baby Katelyn came by the studio to celebrate her baek-il which is a Korean tradition of celebrating her 100th-day since she was born.  She was more like 120 or 130 days old when we did the photoshoot but better late than never right? Lots of patience and time went into this shoot since photographing isn't exactly a cakewalk! But I think we pulled it off pretty well. Here some of my favourites from the day...

Have Camera, Will Travel | iPhonography

What's one of my favourite cameras?  My iphone 5.  It's small and unobtrusive, the Hipstamatic app absolutely rocks, the autofocus is fast, and best of all I always have it with me. Here are a few of my favourites taken with the Hipstamatic from 2013 thus far.

Engagement Ring Came In!

Engagement Ring Came In!

It took 3 weeks but our jeweler, Toronto's Fair Trade Jewelry Company called to tell us that my fiance's ring was finally ready! And how priceless her expression was when she saw this beauty... Given the negative environmental impact the mining industry has on the planet, it was important for us to choose to an ecologically friendly route when choosing our jeweler.  We started by having paying homage to my late grandmother by using her diamond from her own engagement ring (thankyouthankyouthankyou grandma!). Then decided to go with The Fair Trade Jewelry Company in Toronto as they have...

So I popped the question…

So I popped the question…

...and she said "Yes!" But of course I had to do something a little special for the occasion so after mulling it over for a few days I came up with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nk61BxawgY It a few hours to shoot, looks pretty amateurish given it was my first time doing a stop-motion, but well worth it in the end ;)

Yvonne & Pat | Toronto Wedding Photography

This wedding was so much fun mainly 'cause Yvonne and Pat are awesome couple surrounded by awesome family! Yvonne is Linda's baby sister whose wedding I photographed last year. Big shout out to them for their vote of confidence! Yvonne and Pat chose the Copper Creek Golf Club as their venue for the day and it was perfectly stunning for their wedding day. Big thanks to the bride and groom for reminding me why I love wedding photography!

Alicia & Fyaz | Atlantis Pavilions Ontario Place | Toronto Wedding Photography

Alicia and Fyaz are an absolutely gorgeous couple who met a few years ago at their workplace. My first impression of this couple was how completely opposite they are to eachother -- Alicia is Fyaz's Yin and Fyaz is Alicia's Yang. However it soon became clear how completely they are meant for eachother... opposites attract indeed! They chose the beautiful  Atlantis Pavilions at the foot of Lake Ontario as their wedding venue. It was particularly awesome because they gave us an all-access pass to the rest of Ontario Place for photos -- sweet!

Krista & Jake | Post-wedding Engagement Session

Krista & Jake decided to put a twist on the usual engagement photography session by doing a "day-after-the-wedding" photo shoot in their "day-after-wedding" attire. They chose the shores of Lake Ontario in Etobicoke as their location and it couldn't have been more beautiful. Despite their attire being put through the ringer during their wedding the day before they managed to look as beautiful and elegant. Unfortunately the newlywed groom's boutonniere flower had seen better days but it didn't matter because we weren't about to shoot any close-up product shots of the poor thing! We, of course,...

Krista + Jake | Toronto Wedding Photography

Krista and Jake were a complete joy to be around for their wedding day.  Coverage began at their condo Krista was transformed into an absolute stunning bride! Then we were off to the Islington Golf Club where the ceremony and reception took place. The partly cloudy skies with hints of sun was provided near-perfect light that day (especially for us photographers) I took full advantage of it.

Linda + Ryan | Toronto Wedding Photography

Linda and Ryan had their wedding at the beautiful Transfiguration of Our Lord Church and had a stunning reception at the historic The Old Mill Inn. I already knew what a fantastic couple Linda and Ryan are, but I was honestly struck by how equally great their families are too! It was very apparent how both close knit their families are with each other. They simply care so much for each other  - just take a look at how proud the bride's father is for example. Congratulations you guys!
